What have you seen so far at Passagen which really caught your eye?
There is a funeral company that has designed some really cool urns and plots. I took lots of photos and not knowing what this showroom did, was more than pleasantly surprised. Really contemporary design, personal and interactive. Even stuffed pets with ashes as mementoes of a loved one. Company is Himmelreich & Söhne – designs by designscheider and Donndorf Design Odd but really revealing.
What work you’ve seen will inspire your own work?
Student exhibitions are the best … the epitome of right brained thinking. Fresh and youthful.
Which designer do you find interesting at Passagen so far?
Tom Dixon and the way his exhibit was displayed.
What work you’ve seen exemplifies the themes or trends of what’s to come?
Material Connexion’s wall display of transparent wood and flexible materials from rigid elements. Right-brained thinking in general … not one source.
What are the fresh visual surface effect themes and trends?
See above. Color is key in (re)freshing a theme / product.
Can you identify an overall theme or trend for what’s on show at this year’s event?
Authenticity and Luxury.

Design Schools that are cross-functional.
