Photoreportage by Nathalie Gaullier
Stylist and Ciba® XYMARA™ colleague Nathalie Gaullier has taken a year out to travel the world. During this time, she will continue to inspire us by reporting on her travels, bringing us the sights, the colors, the energy and the atmosphere of those faraway places. First stop: Punta Arenas, the world’s southernmost city! Click on the photos to open up larger versions.
Relief of the Chilean landscape from the plane
Golden glacier lake
I took this picture from the plane from Santiago de Chile to Punta Arenas. The golden glow is the sun’s reflection from the lake.
Colectivo, or the power of your finger
The colectivo is like a bus, but is the size of a car. The main difference, apart from the size, is that you can stop it wherever you like just by raising your finger!! In the picture you can see that two women have just stopped it and are crossing the street to get in. I was going down the street where I live when I took this picture. The funny thing is: when it’s icy and the colectivos try to stop quickly … well, it takes a few more meters before you can get in …!
Shepherd
Magellan [the Magallanes y Antártica Chilena Region] accounts for approximately 52% of the total domesticated sheep in the country. This car was parked along my way to the town center.
Cerro de la Cruz
The highest point of the city. I walk by this point every day on my way to one of my two jobs, at a prison (my main job is at a local secondary school).
Tierra del Fuego
A view from El Cerro de la Cruz: you can see Tierra del Fuego (“Land of Fire”) in the distance.
