| competition (submissions have just closed). The competition is meant to provoke a considered reflection on the ongoing and lasting impact of industrial design on the way we live. Eligible designs will have been launched between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2009 and will be judged by a panel which includes Chris Bangle, BMW’s former director of design, according criteria relating to societal and business impact under fifteen categories. |

| Germany, as they have for more than 30 years, in September for the Ars Electronica media art festival from the 2nd to the 7th. A blend of symposium, exhibition, performance and interventions take this festival further than the average exposition into the realms of imagination and creativity. Located this year in the Tabakfabrik, an old tobacco processing plant, the event was a splendid workshop for testing novel ideas and new ways to take action. The main theme was “repair” and was accompanied by a call to arms: how can we begin to repair the very damaged world we live in? | Germany – to the 63rd International Motor Show (IAA) from September 23 to 30. The theme shaping this year’s exhibition is “Commercial vehicles: efficient, flexible, future-proof.” Well over 1700 exhibitors from 41 countries have registered for the show and, as well as world, European and German premieres, there are special attractions such as test drives in light and heavy commercial vehicles, American trucks and the model car collectors’ fair "Automania". |
