There’s always so much going on in the world of effects and often too little time to check it all out. As before, here are all the items you’re too busy to investigate yourself, but which are themselves too interesting to miss!
TIME Magazine loves their Top 100 lists. One of their latest is a Design 100. The beauty of a 100 list as opposed to, say, a Top 10 is that there’s enough space for both the major players and the less established. TIME’s Design 100 covers some familiar names, some up-and-coming names, and some less well known names worthy of further exposure.
One up-and-coming name scorching its way up TIME’s list is Maarten Baas and there’s also a fascinating and informative interview with him in the British newspaper, The Independent.

This month’s featured design website is www.core77.com. Core77 is a truly global operation, operating as a collective blog of all of its members (“cloggers”) worldwide, reporting on their regional design landscapes. All this gives the impression of a truly comprehensive design resource, fully informed with local detail. Designers looking for exposure and agencies looking for designers should also check out Core77’s sister site www.coroflot.com which allows designers to post their portfolios searchably on the web while establishing a network of contacts.

This month’s obligatory plug for ourselves is for our newly launched online design magazine, INMYX. INMYX is chock full of articles, features and interviews, laying out what’s going on in the world of design, and - STOP THE PRESS! - we have just heard that it has won an award in the screen design category of the prestigious iF communication design awards. More details on the award later, but if you haven’t had a look at INMYX yet, do it now!
Finally, the worlds of pop, fashion and art collide at the V&A Museum in London right now, with their exhibition on the “evolving image of Kylie Minogue”, showing off the more pop-py side of Pop Art …
