Ciba is coming back to 100% Design (September 18 to 21, 2008, at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London) in force this year, bringing a packed program of events, launching a raft of XYMARA products and stylings and showing off the full scope of possibilities for groundbreaking surface effects enabled by Ciba materials and know-how!

We look forward to seeing you, either at our stand or at the Ciba^® XYMARA™ Theater, or during one of our many events – here’s a run-down of Ciba’s presence at the show:

The Ciba^® XYMARA™ locations

The “Effects Tunnel” Scintillating designs incorporating the XYMARA world of emotions and effects will be on view at the main Ciba stand, providing inspiration for intriguing and exciting surfaces and expertise on how to achieve them. See our new, unique “color-travel” pigment and a sparkling range of Ciba® XYMARA Nordic™ stylings for printing! And why “Effects Tunnel”? The Ciba® XYMARA™ Theatre We’re taking over – renaming and revamping – 100% Design’s centerpiece theater, the official venue for all the show’s presentations, conferences and Innovation Showcases! What the Ciba XYMARA Theatre will look like is still a secret, but you can expect to see amazing surface effects on very unusual and unexpected objects, utilizing the full palette of XYMARA effects! The theater will also be the venue for most of the special events we’re organizing at 100% Design this year, including the awards ceremony of the XYMARA™ Design Award (see below), and the theater’s walls will also showcase the winning design. The Ciba^® XYMARA™ design event

100% Design’s opening day, September 18, will also be the day of the XYMARA design event, which will include a lively panel discussion on materials selection in design, a media event – at which many unique and extraordinary products, effects and stylings will be introduced to the press, and the award ceremony for our XYMARA™ Design Award.

Panel discussion: Desert Island Materials Led by noted designer and materials expert Chris Lefteri, a panel of designers, engineers, technologists and brand owners will give their top picks for materials, surfaces and trends. Time & location: 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, at the Ciba® XYMARA™ Theatre

XYMARA™ Media Event
Our design experts will show the latest color trends and present cutting-edge concepts for innovative visual surface effects – all also to be seen at the “Effect Tunnel” – to members of the press at our media event:

XYMARA™ effects for graphic arts – Inspire your Senses – Mike Yates will take us through the world of stunning effects for all seasons. Add new dimensions to plastic design – Christophe De Monie will demonstrate how to enhance the appeal of plastics and inspire designers in the creation of eye-catching plastic objects.

XYMARA™ Design Award prize-giving ceremony

Finally! You’ll see here, first, the winning design from our XYMARA™ Design Award! Internationally renowned star designer Tom Dixon (UPDATE: read an exclusive XYMARA interview with Tom Dixon here) will be our keynote speaker, after which our panel of judges and sponsors (including jury president Chris Lefteri, Margaret Pope, and representatives from Material ConneXion, RENOLIT, Benjamin Moore, PPG Industries, L‘Oréal, form Magazine, Vodafone and visual-research) will present the award to the young designer who most successfully combined form, function and sustainability with Ciba visual surface effects! A revolutionary new way to enhance the performance of carbon fibers will be presented by Ciba as part of 100% Design’s Innovation Showcase conference program.
