If we’re talking woven textiles and fabrics, then we must be talking Première Vision and there are two coming up very soon. In New York, Première Vision is at the Metropolitan Pavilion on July 15 and 16, while Paris – home of Première Vision – opens its doors at the Parc d’Expositions from September 15 to 18.

As always, Première Vision in both locations will be all about fearlessly experimenting, unashamedly flaunting fantasy, shuffling aesthetic boundaries, abandoning consensus, linking technology and an environmental conscience, setting differences ablaze. All this and more.

In New York, this season’s exhibit is organized around four themes: Fancy Seduction – a feminine world of fantasy and flowing lines, Tailored Distinction – where structured lines meet elegance, Relaxed Attitude – casual and comfortable, and Active Pulsation for sport, performance and functional materials. Around 50,000 visitors are expected from 106 countries to view textiles in the categories of general fabrics, lace, embroidery, knitted and woven fabrics, accessories, yarns and clothing. As usual there’ll be inspirational films, informative seminars and audiovisual presentations geared to professionals and buyers from the industry.

Paris has also created its own set of mood worlds for its autumn/winter exhibit, made up of 700 weavers from 28 countries. In splendid French fashion, the categories also start with seduction, and continue with distinction, relax, pulsation and alternative reflections. The overriding theme is that color and fabric generate energy and the exhibit is looking to stir up a whirlwind of fashion that sends out feelers into the future.
