On March 8, 2007, the Geneva Motor Show (officially the Salon International de l'Auto) will open its doors at the Geneva Palexpo to the media, industry, design world and public for the 77th time since 1905 .

Running until March 18, the show will offer 11 days of razzle-dazzle, with more than 244 exhibitors showing new cars and trucks, ranging from monster pick-ups, minivans and SUVs all the way through to the much hyped concept cars, fore-runners of the commercial models of the future.

Having grown year by year over its rich and varied history, the Geneva Motor Show this year welcomes players both old and new.  Production and concept models will be presented by famous names: Audi will present their RS6 Sedan, Avant, Audi R8 V-10 and A5 coupe and cabriolet; BMW will present their 1-Series 3-door, 3-Series M3 coupe and M5 Touring; Mercedes-Benz will present their new C-Class; Honda will present their FCX Concept fuel cell car and Small Hybrid Sports Concept; and Lexus will present their IS-F and LF-A models.

As befits its reputation as one of the few truly international automobile shows, Geneva will host car makers from around the world.  Visitors should look out for the BS 6, the new top of the range model from Brilliance JinBei Automobile, the first Chinese car manufacturer to import into Europe.

And two older names are new again at Geneva: the Abarth (revived by Fiat) and Donkervoort (with their new first-ever closed sports car).

As a show-within-the-show, the Fully Networked Car exhibition and workshop will take place concurrently, showcasing the latest developments in information and communication technologies in motor vehicles.

Haven’t got tickets yet?  Peugeot’s offering free tickets to visitors of the official Salon d’Auto website (and the chance to win their brand new Peugeot 207 CC coupé convertible!!!).

All in all, a glorious extravaganza for lovers of cars and design!
