Held in Dusseldorf every three years, the 17^th K trade fair for plastics and rubber is set to take place once again from October 24 to 31. Considered to be THE material of the 21^st century, plastic is the cornerstone of today’s infrastructure – not only is it infinitely variable and flexible in its applications, but it also represents exceptionally good value for money. With a special presentation entitled “Plastics pack the punch” – including discussions and demonstrations – that highlights the performance capabilities of polymers, K 2007 is pivotal in demonstrating what the future will bring.

Although traditional packaging accounts for one third of all polymers manufactured, there are innovative newcomers such as intelligent plastic films. But improving properties of existing applications is also strongly represented such as ultra-light-weight materials for cycling helmets, cutting edge heat insulation, protective clothing for fire fighters and other emergency services and sports gear such as diving equipment and clothing.

The K trade fair is always a highlight in the plastics and rubber calendar, particularly for specialists from the automotive engineering, packaging, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, constructions, medical technology, aviation and aerospace sectors. This is the place to catch up on the latest plastics and rubbers applications as well as to see which way trends are moving.

There are already 3100 companies from 52 countries taking part in the exhibition and more than 200,000 trade visitors are expected to attend. Even the most seasoned of visitors can expect a few surprises on visiting the “Experience Tunnel” which offers plastics-based solutions for transport, energy efficiency and hygiene.

Under the banner “Your business – our effects”, Ciba (stand No. A27 in Hall 06) will present new effects grouped according to aspects they enhance, such as Durability & Protection, Functionality & Performance, Color & Appeal and Processing Efficiency.
