The China International Exhibition for Coatings, Printing Inks and Adhesives – CHINACOAT – is still growing. Now in its eleventh year, it is one of the world’s largest coating shows. This trade show represents an opportunity for exhibitors to meet decision makers from all over the world.
This exhibit is held alternately in Guangzhou or Shanghai and this year, from November 21 to 23, it is the turn of Shanghai at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Some 370 Chinese producers of chemicals and machinery are gathering to show the international community what China has to offer the world of coatings. The Chinese exhibitors will be complemented by an almost equal number of international exhibitors.
Specialists from Russia and Indonesia have been invited to make presentations on coating developments in their respective countries and to comment on the latest trends. Two workshops are also being held during the trade show on November 21 and 22 – the first is on “Optimisation of coating/ink properties through formulation modification” and the second on “Improvement of coating/ink properties through efficient dispersion”. The workshops are intended for manufacturers as well as R&D personnel and are being held in Chinese only. The technology corner will feature nanotechnology and fluorine in coatings this year – visitors who are interested should go along to booth 2D76-80 in Hall E2 and join in the discussion.
Just two days before the opening of the trade show, the CHINACOAT Conference will take place at the Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel. The theme of the Conference this year is “Resins and Additives: Widening formulation options in waterborne coatings.” In China, as in the US and Europe, a slow but tangible shift driven by government regulation is being seen towards compliant coatings. A strong investment into research has resulted in a wide range of increasingly sophisticated “designer” resins and functional additives. Coatings formulators are now in a position to enter markets that previously belonged solely to solvent-based paints. The conference will be held in both Chinese and English.
Ciba will also be at CHINACOAT, at stand no. 2F21~26, presenting the benefits we offer in “Innovation from Concept to Object”. Amongst a host of products, processes, tools and services, special highlights will be Ciba® IRGAZIN® DPP Cosmoray™ Orange, the first of a new generation of high-performance diketo-pyrrolo-pyrrole (DPP) pigments that extend the attainable color space; deep chrome color effects in the Ciba® METASHEEN® range of vacuum-metalized pigments; Ciba® EFKA® high-performance dispersants for organic and inorganic pigments, produced by new, controlled free radical polymerization technology; and the “NEAT” progressive additive technology for waterborne coatings. Naturally, our Color Trend Vision and web-based tools and services at XYMARA.com, will also be demonstrated!
