And now, it's all over! A big thank you to all our wonderful visitors. We look forward to further contact with all of you, either through our website and newsletter, or more directly, if follow-up was promised.
The last day had quite a different atmosphere from the previous days. Families abounded and the children were entranced by the colors of our panels and the movements of our mechanical pieces ...
What a few exciting days! We're a bit wiped out now, having been dismantling our stand and packing everything for shipping for a few hours (we were the last to leave and had to been shown out!) ...
So we'll take our leave - with some more pictures of the fair.

Well, if you were on the edge of your seat waiting for the results, we have to disappoint you and let you know that we didn't win the Best New Design Exhibitor award last night. Sad but true. Maybe next year ...

Meanwhile, I've spent the day visiting 100% Design proper - will report back on all my findings next!

What's really great at shows such as this is the opportunity to meet with contacts made in the past. Just this morning, I've met Manzo Mbomyo, who I met before at this year's SaloneSatellite in Milan, and who is here with some interesting pieces I hope to photograph later. Fabian Baumann of Formfjord, who I met at the Design Annual in Frankfurt, also came by - he hopes to be exhibiting in Milan again next year and was keen to discuss his ideas for the show. Yesterday, we had a colleague from the Color Marketing Group, Beverley Cottingham of Tarkett, who passed by to catch up and talk about upcoming Color Marketing Group events. Also from Frankfurt and the Design Annual, Chris Lefteri - who is curating 100% Materials here at 100% Design - and Franziska Holzmann of Materialsworks have made appearances, as well as Anja Diete of Material Vision, who came by to remind me to attend that upcoming materials show in Frankfurt in November, which I hope to review in due course.
Now I'm looking forward to spending the afternoon walking around and seeing all the exhibits at the show: will report back later!

An electrical problem on the stand, just 20 minutes before the end of the day! Some of our lights flickered wildly ... They're back now, to our relief.
Aaaaand, we're clear! The first day has been long and tiring, yet still rewarding. Now we're just looking forward to some food, a hot relaxing bath (especially for our feet) ... and then bed.

What a day it's been so far! Although I have a momentary lull in which to update the blog, it's been a packed day. Thank you all for coming and visiting us!

Apart from the many interior designers and architects who have come up to our stand, we've also received contacts and friends from other events and industry groupings. Our Color Trend Vision concept has been very warmly received as has our stand design, so we're very pleased.

Day One is the longest day (it started at 10 a.m. and will only end at 9 p.m.!) and we're already exhausted - although exhilarated with the activity on our stand so far.
2.23 p.m., Thursday September 20, 2007

The show started strongly this morning - throngs of people were lined up to come in even as we arrived. It seems 100% Design is a hit and a destination for the designers and architects ...
Many have stopped by our stand. One clear watchword so far is "sustainability". Eco-consciousness really seems to be pervading every facet of design. We were pleased to present Ciba's NEAT initiatives - geared towards ecologically sustainable solutions - to our visitors.

What a long, hard 24 hours! We arrived in London late on Tuesday night to find that our hotel had lost our reservations! Looking for rooms in London late on an evening, with 100% Design about to start and London Fashion Week in full flight, was not an enviable task ...
We did find somewhere to lay our heads though and set off for Earls Court with full determination early this morning; we had a lot to do, a lot to set up and prepare to get our stand up and running. It turned out we had arrived earlier than most, but the extra time was needed, as we soon ran into a whole gauntlet of snags: the carpet hadn't yet been delivered, the walls had a rips in the paintwork, the muslin ceiling was torn ...

10:51 a.m.: Our blank canvas
The exhibition's staff were admirably helpful and approachable as the afternoon wore on and the numbers swelled. Contacts and friends from the worlds of design and materials began to appear, to prepare their stands for the show. Each had their own stories of hardship: stands not built according to specification, deliveries running desperately late, last minute shopping for equipment and tools that had not been thought of ... The camaraderie was comforting.
![]() 12:54 a.m.: Taking shape in bursts and starts | ![]() 1:11 p.m.: Some assembly required |
By late afternoon, most of the assembly was done, but the electrics still hadn't been installed so we couldn't test most of our stand's features, many of which required electrical power. It was only towards the evening that everything came together and we realised that we had an incredible stand on our hands!

7:30 p.m.: All ready for the show ...
