During the 17 days of the Berlin leg of the Maximal Reduction Minimal Boundaries exhibition, which was hosted by the small VR-Gallery, more than 3,000 curious visitors came by to take a look at the colorful exhibits and to snatch up one of the sought-after catalogues.

The great turnout exceeded the organizers’ expectations by far. Most certainly, the heightened media interest in this hot topic before and during the show – newspapers, radio and TV stations all reported about the event – had fueled the public’s interest.

Meanwhile, more than 250 visitors showed up at the opening of the concurrent exhibition at Rogue Status in Venice Beach, CA, on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It turned out to be a casual gathering of Fixed Gear enthusiasts and bike lovers that eventually took up the entire block. In common with the crowd in Berlin, the larger part of the visitors arrived on their own bikes!

KR8-Space, PCH Berlin-Los Angeles and Visual Research – the organizers of the exhibition – had received great support during the planning of the event and in choosing the exhibits by the fashion brand CAMPUS by Marco O’Polo, as well as Ciba, who provided the colors for the bikes based on their XYMARA range of colors and effects.

The trend color combinations that were particularly relevant for the development of new colors were demonstrated on five Fixed Gear bikes specially manufactured for the event.

Due to the tremendous success and the positive response of the show, the organizers are already planning a sequel to this project, to be part of an ongoing exhibition series. Not too much can, or should, yet be disclosed, but the fields of activity of the participating project partners (innovation, trend research and fashion design, respectively) promise great developments. What can be said is that everything will revolve around innovations for new colors and Ciba’s presence with XYMARA at the 100% Design fair in London in September …
