A glimpse of the future: Color Trend Vision 2010-2011 previewed at the European Coatings Show 2009

Among all the exciting new developments we will be presenting at the European Coatings Show, you will also find a glimpse of the future. Our Color Trend Vision stylists and trend researchers have been working hard on the trend shades for 2010-2011 and the early results have been so exciting we want to share them with you!

The previewed Color Trend Vision stylings will be suitable for numerous applications, including consumer goods, interior/architectural design, automotive and teletronic coatings – giving product designers and architects an early heads-up on the surface stylings which will be in-trend a year or more ahead. “With the stylings from Color Trend Vision, designers may be sure that the colors and effects they select for the surfaces of their products will be fashionable among the consumers and users of the future,” says Andreas Türk, Global Head of Ciba’s Paints & Coatings Business Line.

The new stylings reflect the resonating influences for colors and visual effects for 2010-2011 and the new directions made possible by the next generation of color, effect and stabilization technologies. Being a preview ahead of time, don’t be surprised to find a number of these stylings will expand your palette of design tools and options by containing completely innovative effects you’ve never seen before, being based on products from Ciba’s research labs, but not yet commercialized.

… intriguing surface stylings featuring colors and effects overlaid on the intrinsic beauty of “exposed” carbon fiber weave patterns – made possible by new advances in protection technology.

By “stylings” we mean a surface’s visual impact, including color, sheen and special effects – such as sparkle, metallic and pearlescent effects – which define the look and feel of an object. The benefit of Color Trend Vision is that these visual surface effects are created in Ciba’s labs, so we know how to recreate them in production and can advise you and your suppliers on how to work with them in your systems.

Color Trend Vision is Ciba’s overall concept for styling, forecasting and design of trendy, innovative and appealing effects, with the first edition launched in 2007 to provide designers, brand mangers, specifiers and formulators with a design and technology package, including global and regional color trend forecasts and information, design tools, technology, consulting services and products for coatings, inks and plastics applications.

The Color Trend Vision 2010-2011 preview can be seen in the “Effect Tunnel” at Ciba’s stand – 557 in Hall 7 – at the European Coatings Show in Nuremberg. We look forward to seeing you there!
