Design star Peter Schreyer has moved from Volkswagen AG to Korean car maker Kia, where he heads the company’s global design center in Frankfurt, Germany. Known for his clear graphics and surfaces, Schreyer is to help Kia further enhance the design flair of its models.
Best known for his achievements at Audi, where he worked from 1994 to 2002, Schreyer shaped the look of the original Audi TT roadster and the classic Bauhaus-inspired 1997 Audi A6 sedan. These vehicles helped to give Audi an outstanding reputation in auto design and Schreyer’s work on them is still regarded as some of the most influential automotive design of recent times.
Schreyer joined Volkswagen in 2002, where he designed the dashing Concept-R roadster.
Schreyer’s presence alone at Kia is likely to command instant respect for the company’s automotive design. He is based at a new design center Kia is building near Frankfurt, Germany. The company also has design studios in Korea and Los Angeles.
Peter Schreyer, 53, graduated from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1980, with a Master of Transportation design degree.
