Our recent collaboration with Colgate-Palmolive on their Tahiti shower gel bottle was not the only instance where Ciba is helping to create innovative visual effects for their products. Here we present another recent example.
What will those kids think of next?! The latest trend for teenage hair-styling is making your hair go neon! And Ciba’s in the thick of it all …
Recent work between Ciba and Colgate-Palmolive in Mexico has resulted in the launch of a new product for party people - Caprice Fixion Antro, a hair gel with a neon effect. This new neon gel, using Ciba® TINOPAL® CBS-X makes your hair light up the night – in a similar effect to what happens to white clothes or your teeth when you dance in the disco under UV light. “The focus is on teenagers,” says Adriana Reza, of Ciba Mexico.
“Over the past years, teens have become a big market for hairstyling products geared to achieving funky hairstyles. Products which you can apply and then just wash your hair to go back to your normal style are particularly popular,” adds Colleen Rocafort, of Ciba’s Home & Personal Care business.
Ciba® TINOPAL® CBS-X, the product which found its way into the hair gel, is a fluorescent whitening agent. Neon hair gel is a brand-spanking-new application for this product.
Mexico is where Colgate-Palmolive has its Latin American technical center, and also where the company conducts its global research and development activities in the areas of fine fabrics and roll-on deodorant applications. “We expect the Colgate technology center in Mexico to become more important in the future,” says Nahum Chavez, the Technical Director of Colgate-Palmolive’s research and technology center for Latin America. The Colgate-Palmolive product range includes shampoos, conditioners, liquid dishwashing and oral care products.
“We were already familiar with Ciba’s capabilities,” Chavez says. “Ciba is one of the leading additives companies and I see a lot of potential for us to work together on more exciting developments.”
