Ultra-dark, high brilliance, chrome-like effects with Ciba® XYMARA™ METASHEEN® "11 Series"

With increasing consumer demand for dark chrome-like effects, Ciba has expanded its existing range of high-reflectance aluminum pigments to extend the range of styling possibilities and cover even more of the "color space" of this type of effect. Whether it’s a mobile phone, the interior of a car, or even a humble door handle, the Ciba® XYMARA™ METASHEEN® 11 Series provides products the requisite emotive element – a touch of class, sensuality, or good old-fashioned rock and roll.
In addition to creating an ultra-dark chrome-like effect, Ciba® XYMARA™ METASHEEN® 11 Series can – when used in ultra-low solids systems – provide a high brilliance, mirror-like finish. All the necessary information, guidelines and starting-point formulations to help achieve such effects are also available from Ciba.
Ciba® XYMARA™ METASHEEN® 11 Series is suitable for low pigment to binder spray paints with general and industrial finishes, and high pigment to binder spray paints with a high chrome or mirror-like effect.

This product range – including both established and new pigments - are a valuable part of the Ciba® XYMARA™ METASHEEN® range of pigments. The only vacuum-metalized pigments on the market available in a dispersed form, METASHEEN® pigments are very easy to use and allow exceptionally high brilliance, excellent coverage and high versatility in formulation.
With a wide choice of shiny, sparkling and brilliant mirror-like effects, they are extensively used in applications such as packaging and paints. For manufacturers and designers alike, they offer broad scope and high flexibility in meeting today’s market demand for exclusivity, and bright, lustrous shades – from a true white metallic or ‘liquid silver’ effect to a much darker, more chrome like effect. There is also a corresponding range of water-passivated grades that are specially treated to ensure stability of the aluminum for use in water-based coatings.
