Colibri 3.2 Logo

By Le Vin Chin

It’s an old problem: how to ensure that the colors you’ve specified in your design remain the same when it – be it for a toy, brochure, building, shampoo bottle, electronic gadget or car – is finally produced?

As a designer, you are often at the mercy of the suppliers who provide the real-world materials to fit your color specifications; and they in turn are at the mercy of processing conditions and their own raw material suppliers.

It’s exactly this problem that the new Ciba® COLIBRI™ 3.2 color-formulation system has been created to solve. COLIBRI 3.2 is the latest iteration of Ciba’s color-matching software, already well-accepted for its accuracy of recipe generation. By using this software, suppliers will effectively be able to guarantee a closest match to your specified colors, whether in inks, paints, plastics, fibers or ceramics.

The latest version is chock full of new features tailored to support producers in all these industries along every step of their processes. Most notably, the new compatibility with “Enterprise Resource Planning” systems will allow companies with multiple sites to manage their colors and optimize their productivity.

COLIBRI 3.2 is but one of the many services and solutions provided by the Ciba Color Services color consultancy – which includes advice on pigment preparation and color measurement as well as software support. Look out for them at the K-Show in Düsseldorf in October, at the stand of their partner Konica Minolta (No. E22, in Hall 11)!
