| Dear Xymara Reader
This month's Color Trend Research paper investigates "popup" events. What are they? Find out here!
The past month has been all about coatings and paints on XYMARA.com. We've improved the navigation to our Color Trend Vision pages and premiered our latest Color Trend Vision guidebook, Color Evolution * Wood, which offers 11 new trend stylings for wood coatings, and represents the first major new Color Trend Vision guide since the launch of the Color Evolution Guide #1 and the second update to our stylings since the launch of our plastics stylings in August of this year. Coatings trends also featured highly in form magazine's latest Special Edition on innovative materials, led off by an interview with XYMARA.com's Editor-in-chief.
And there have been a few major coatings-related events to talk about: Eurocoat has come and gone, and RadTech is just ending. We've also featured tools to help paintmakers create coatings, in the form of Ciba's ColorSpace colorant selector.
Lastly, this month, we also welcomed the return of Monika Fecht with new mood boards for 2008/2009
and the contribution of designer and materials expert Chris Lefteri's investigation into unusual and clever uses of materials. We hope to be seeing a lot more of Chris' insights on our pages in the near future!
As ever: we hope you enjoy exploring our world of effects!

Editor-in-Chief

| Hütten und Paläste (Huts and Palaces): Wooden Cabins for the Big City | |
|
 | | At first glance, it seems incongruous, out of place. What is a wooden cabin doing in the middle of a big city? Are we going back to previous eras? Will we all soon be living as if we were in the country? One might have that impression, now that wooden cabins by the office of Hütten und Paläste (Huts and Palaces) are not only to be found in the pages of architecture magazines but also seen in real-life in the heart of Germany's buzzing capital, Berlin. Similar trends are noticeable in the U.S.A. and Canada. However, none of the comparable architecture is quite so cabin-like, nor does it better allay the initial fear that we are looking backwards and not forwards....
