| Dear Xymara Reader
Happy 2008! We hope your year has started as well as ours!
The New Year always brings a new excitement to the world of design - mood and culture change, fashion and taste develop, art and society transform … and new color and design trends emerge. This month's exclusive Color Trend Research paper attempts to read the signs of today and forecast the trends for the year …
The importance of design is once more underscored this year by the selection of Turin as World Design Capital - we had an in-depth look at what it all means for the city and its visitors.
January seems to be a month for design shows: we've featured quite a number of design event previews this month! Apart from the Passagen in Cologne - which just ended yesterday and where many of you came to our installation to tell us what you thought of the event and of design trends in general - we'd also like to plug our sponsored Fixed-gear event, running both in Los Angeles and in Berlin in February.
Finally, what does the selection of a material used in a design say about the final product? What are the implications and connotations of the use, say, of a certain type of plastic in a design? Chris Lefteri returned this month to take us through the "branding" of plastics.
It's a busy month for us and, no doubt, a busy month for you - we hope you enjoy our world of effects and emotion, at XYMARA.com!
