| Dear Xymara Reader
This month, we've all come back exhausted from Milan, brimming to the full with news of all that we've seen!
First off, EXCLUSIVE to the XYMARA Newsletter, is our
Color Trend Research paper,
which details our verdict on the color trends observable in Milan, from 2007 to 2008. Second, we have the
first of our two reviews of Milan 2008
(a second review will follow later in May), in which Oliver Spies takes us through the best of the show, and highlights the design trends on view. Was it truly "nothing new" as many said? Or was there more going on in the background than met the eye?
Elsewhere, we've continued to spotlight the work of color stylists - one of our main pre-occupations. Nathalie Gaullier inspired us with her
photoreportage on the colors of Cambodia
, while Montaha Hidefi outlined her
creative process in creating and naming her color palette.
Meanwhile, young designer Martin Oeggerli's very subtle work with color also impressed us.
We continued to bring solutions to the world of visual surface effects as well: last month saw the launch of the Ciba® XYMARA™ XPS Anti-yellowing grades.
In events news, look out for Ciba at DRUPA
, the world's pre-eminent graphic arts and printing fair, in no less than three locations! Ciba's own stand is at B56 in Hall 17, but you can also see Ciba technology at the Metal FX stand, D17 in Hall 15 and matchmycolor.com, the online color management platform, will be presented at the Flint Group stand, C38 in Hall 05.
Lastly, a quick reminder about our XYMARA™ Design Award. The registration and submission pages are now open for young designers to send us their entries in our three categories of mobile phones, packaging and furniture! Don't forget to send us your design, or pass this on to a young designer you know who may find this a great way to show what they can do! Along with the prize money, sponsored by Ciba, the category sponsors - L'Oréal, Vodafone and Renolit - are offering internships in their design studios, which will give the winners maximum opportunities for gaining experience and exposure!
And, on that note, it only remains for me once more to exhort you to enjoy our world of effects and emotion at XYMARA.com!
