With myXYMARA, visitors to our website can build their own presence on XYMARA.com and customize the site to suit their needs - you can find out all the details here. Additionally, we're introducing a Downloads area as well on the site, so you can get access to all our printed information in PDF form. This is just the beginning - more and more interactivity is planned, so look out for more announcements! If, like millions of others, your eyes are on Beijing, focusing on the Summer Olympic Games, take a moment - your TV station's coverage permitting - to inspect the seating in the incredible "Bird's Nest" stadium by Herzog & de Meuron. Ciba products and effects were used in the manufacture of the seating, making the seats brilliant in color and durable. Read our in-depth report. We all probably have these two "toys" somewhere in our closets, ready to be dusted off again each summer … but serious culture and lifestyle trends for plastics lie not far behind the scenes in this month's newsletter-exclusive Color Trend Research paper on the resurgence of the Frisbee and the Hula Hoop. Our trend analysis work has been in overdrive this past month: we also delivered a major report on our research into trends in packaging. Where are the interfaces between design and the internet? What are the online resources for discourse on culture, society and design? Every month, I try to scout out what's out there, what's new, what's happening and what's interesting in my monthly column, X Marks The Spot!, which we bill as: "Your monthly treasure map to the worlds of design, effects and color!" Lastly, the submissions period for our XYMARA™ Design Award is now over and the competition is now closed. Just last week, the Jury met to discuss and evaluate the entries.
