Grow it Yourself
Reduce your carbon footprint by planting a vegetable garden nourished by compost from the kitchen. Transform your backyard, or obtain a plot in a community garden. By decreasing your dependence on large-scale agriculture, you can appreciate the joy of local, homegrown produce.

Videotape the Action
Parachuters, kayakers, and thrillseekers are making use of small cameras mounted on helmets and handlebars. Recently introduced models are hands-free and discreet enough not to call attention to themselves. These video cameras record adventure-laden activities from the first hand point of view.

Communal Bike Programs
Revolutionizing urban culture, the Communal Bike Program started in France and is now spreading throughout Europe and to North America. The aim is to reduce the number of cars within city centers by giving people the opportunity to use a more eco-friendly manner of transport. Affordable rental prices allow bikes to stay in rotation and remain at docking stations around the city. Daily, weekly, or annual passes are available.

3 OUTs

Blind Dinner as a Gimmick
Presentation no longer matters when dining in blackout conditions. Started in Zurich in 1999, the goal was to create jobs for the blind and give diners the chance to intensify their senses by experiencing food in an unconventional manner. However, this trend has spread and lost authenticity as restaurants now employ waiters wearing night-vision goggles. Restaurants can now be found in Paris, London, Sydney, Beijing, Los Angeles, Switzerland, New York City, etc.

Food Waste
Stale, expired, moldy, and freezer-burnt food occurs when products sit around in our homes for too long. This happens when too much has been purchased, resulting in landfills full of rotting food. With food prices skyrocketing worldwide, purchasing food in small quantities allows the shopper to make more careful decisions.

SUVs
With rising gas prices, it comes as no surprise that sport utility vehicles are being traded in for more fuel-efficient cars. It is no longer fashionable, due to environmental and economic reasons, to drive a vehicle that costs nearly $80 to fill a tank. It is predicted that by 2015, fuel-regulations will increase to 31.6 miles per gallon – nearly depleting the SUV market.
